I normally try not to get discouraged, but somedays... you have "those days." Unfortunately, everytime I have to do something for someone else, or by their guidelines, it's become a well known fact that murphy's law will present itself, and usually in the form of something that you can't control, but keeps an arms distance away from you controlling it.
I try not to badmouth anyone or anything, but I can't in good conscious, not say anything about todays events. Not only did I find out that Autodesk puts expiration dates on their student software... they also make it damn near impossible to renew it. Which I am still in the process of trying to renew to finish schoolwork. I would understand this if I were using a commercial copy or even had the opportunity to gain monetary compensation for using their software, but no... I'm just trying to use a copy that I've paid for and already registered, for school... which I'm paying for. Funny thing is... I've called twice, tried "their suggested method for renewal" three times and here I still sit, with a couple hundred dollars invested in dead software and a couple thousand hinging on whether or not customer service feels it necessary to help me out. Great times.
In addition, tried to install Adobe CS 5.5 today, to which I found out I was shipped a faulty copy...
I'm just about to the point of saying screw it and going back into traditional art and practical effects. At least that way if something doesn't work I can actually force it to, instead of sitting there like a dip, waiting for someone in a different country to read my email and respond to me "thank you for your email, and we apologize for your inconv...." Sick of it already... here, look at this picture. This is the "Butcher"
